Abstract

ABSTRACTED FROM THE INTRODUCTION: The following paper will first define land grabbing in Burma. Analyses of national land and related investment reform efforts will follow. It will then present the main findings of a local land survey undertaken by the Karen Environmental and Social Action Network (KESAN) and the Karen Agricultural Department (KAD). The paper will close with the exploration of specific land issues in Karen areas of Burma and make a few recommendations. This paper focuses on land already lost and future land problems in Karen State, Eastern Burma.
